Roman

This is Roman, the elk that Mike and his dad brought back from their hunt this past week. Mike was more of the "guide" in this hunt and his dad is the one who shot the elk. The reason he got this name is because "he has a big knot on his forehead, a 'roman' nose from pushing over trees" as Mike told me. Just as they were about to call it quits Monday morning, Mike saw this big guy back in the trees, and "Dad hammered him" as Mike said (can you tell he's right next to me, "helping" with this blog entry?). We had planned for them to be gone for most of the week, but just about 3 hours of hunting was all it took, and they were home and Roman was in the cooler by Monday evening! Bummer, Liz and I didn't get to go out bar hopping like we'd planned! (just kidding!) Mike had been praying that all would go well for this hunt since it has been a lifelong dream of his dad's to shoot a big bull. He also prayed that they would have a great time hunting together, in the end it was a complete answer to prayer!

Except for the elk. Just kidding! But Mike is the professional prayer!! Thanks for sending Wyatt over- Karis was thrilled. I got some cute photos of them. And she loves the horsies. You did not have to do that!!

Way to go Dad and Mike! I'm so happy that Dad was finally able to go on this hunt, I know it's been a dream of his for a long time - I'm jealous I wasn't there to enjoy all of the excitement!!! :)
