Yes, that's right, E Coli! Apparently that is what I have had this weekend, not the stomach flu. I just wanted to post this for anyone who read my last post about the pumpkin patch and thought it might be fun to go there. It was a great time, but I am just about 100% convinced that this is where I got sick from. We knew some other people that were out there when we were, and all 10 of them have the same thing I did. Their kids touched the pigs and then they touched their kids. Cora was the only one of us to touch a pig, but I held her hand after that (she had a paci in the whole time so her hands didn't touch her mouth). I also made the mistake of only wiping my hands with a baby wipe and then finishing the kid's leftover snack on the way home. Also, I shouldn't admit my other mommy mistake, but for anyone else who has a paci loving child, I will. Cora dropped her paci out there and I couldn't give it back to her, but didn't have anything on me to clean it with so ...............I popped it in my mouth first! I've seriously only done that a couple times, and I tell you God was telling me not to, because I had a bad feeling about doing it, but I figured "she's teething, her mouth hurts and she's going to freak out if she can't have it!" I should have let her freak out.
Anyhow once I figured out this little coincidence with 2 other families, I talked to my dad. My dad is a meat cutter and therefore deals with processing and selling pigs, cows, etc, and also has to be very up on all the food handling rules and standards. He said without a doubt if it came from a pig it was E Coli. So, please either don't go there or if you do don't touch the pigs and sanitize your hands like crazy!
