Little Red Spots

Today I am feeling better - pretty good when I'm not eating anyway. :) I have actually been able to resume most of my regular mommy duties today and spend time with the kids! So while I was helping Wyatt get his socks on this morning I noticed that he had a bunch of little red blister like marks on his feet. Then I remembered that Cora had a couple of those on her hands last Friday (but then I got sick and forgot about it for a few days). Since Wyatt had quite a few I took him to the Dr. just to be sure it wasn't anything serious. She looked at his feet and hands and Cora's hands (she has them on her bottom too) and said "they have foot and mouth disease." I nearly came off my chair! I'd heard the name before and hadn't thought anything of it, but when the word "disease" was associated with my kids I got a little worried. It sounds terrible, but I guess really it isn't anything to worry about, just a little viral infection that most kids get and can pick up anywhere, kind of like pink eye. Wyatt and Cora actually got lucky usually there is a fever and mouth sores that go with it, but they just got the little red spots and they don't hurt or itch. The only bad thing is that Wyatt can't go to preschool tomorrow and Cora can't go to Bible Study childcare, the Dr. said to give it a day to make sure they are done getting the spots and don't develop a fever, but as of right now though they aren't contagious. I just couldn't believe it, Foot and Mouth Disease and E Coli - they both sound so horrible, but really they are just little red spots and food poisoning.
