Christmas Eve

Now that I have so many pictures from Christmas and all of the other things that have gone on since then, it is my goal to do at least one post a day to try to catch up. So....be prepared for all kinds of "Hobbs House Happenings"!

This year we had a very quiet family Christmas Eve, I'm not even sure we left the house that day. We started the day by letting each of the kids open one present, the catch was we picked (or rather talked them into) which one to open, we wanted to be sure their choice would hold their interest for most of the day, so clothes just wouldn't have done. Most of the day was spent getting ready for Christmas Day, cleaning the house, baking and decorating cookies, and watching a few Christmas movies.

We really wanted to go to the Christmas Eve service again this year, but we knew Cora would not handle that well. She doesn't sit still well, doesn't want to be held and really loves to run and be the center of attention, plus she's really loud! So rather than split up we decided to stay home and have a birthday party for Jesus. I didn't get any pictures of that, the kids were pretty exhausted so it was a quick party, but fun. They gave Jesus presents in the form of donating toys they didn't use any more and the "treat" bags were grocery bags of food that were dontated to the food bank. Then we had pizza (party food, right?) and they sang Happy Birthday and each blew out a candle on an overly frosted cookie.
The evening ended with me frosting way to many cookies, and I have this ridiculous obsession with decorating them all differently and very detailed. Every year by the time I'm done I really do not want to see another sugar cookie for at least a year. Mike put together the big suprise and thankfully it didn't take 4 hours like the directions said!
