The Great Christmas Tree Hunt

Cora's suggestion for our tree

Wyatt's suggestion for our tree
(he actually said "smile little tree" when I took this picture)

waiting for smores and hot chocolate

taking apart the fire pit (there wasn't a fire in it!)

All geared up, hope nobody has to go potty!
Friday morning we went to the mountains to get our Christmas tree. This was a tradition for both Mike's and my family while we were growing up, and the way we found all of our trees the first few years we were married. We haven't gone in a few years because the kids were so little, so this was a first for us as a family. The kids had a great time even though there was only a little snow, and only in places! They explored, slipped around on the ice, built things out of rocks and sticks and got REALLY messy. Poor Mike tried and tried to get a fire going, but it just never happenned (at one point he was using the TP to attempt to get it going!). However we still enjoyed some smores, they were cold but good, and the kids thought the hot cocoa was great, which was fun because at home they won't go near it. Wyatt packed his around calling it his "coffee", saying that he was just like daddy! They both had ideas of which tree to bring home, but in the end Mike and I decided on one just a touch bigger (about 12 ft tall!). Wyatt was VERY concerned about "hurting the little tree" when we cut it down and actually didn't want to bring one home if we had to cut it down. He finally came around after we talked for a bit, but it was so sweet that he was worried about the tree!

This is no good that a game warden isn't able to get a fire started....aren't you supposed to be one step below a mountain man?! You'll have to come out to visit and we'll have a fire starting seminar...tee hee hee! Love you guys - glad you had a great time....still no baby here!
