Decorating the Tree - attempt #1

In came the tree, we realised it went all the way to the ceiling (NO room for the star), blocked the hall, and had about a foot or so at the bottom that was bare. So out it went again for a little trimming (after it was already in the stand, in water), leaving another trail of "tree debris" with it. Back in it came with just enough room underneath for gifts, a bit of room at the top for the star and trimmed branches allowing us to again walk down the hallway. We straightened it, centered it, Mike hung the lights and then (drum roll)..............it was time to put on the ornaments!
Only thing was each one we unpacked was quickly confiscated and taken away to be played with. Our kids wanted nothing to do with putting ornaments on the tree. We tried to get them into it for a while, but then gave up and decided that these ornaments were actually a very occupying activity. Tractors were tied to sleds with shoestrings, ballerinas and bears rode the sleds, the Rudolph characters came out and Cora found all of her little doggies for Yukon Cornelieus. Then, the thing she has asked us about off and on all year - Billy came out of the box!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Last Christmas Cora fell in love with Clarice from Rudolph but to this day calls her "Billy" and gets angry when Wyatt corrects her! We have no idea why, but she is enamored with Billy and has played with her all season (and I've glued her legs back on everyday this season!).
